Residential Real Estate Attorneys

One of the most significant business transactions most people ever make is the sale or purchase of their private residence. At Murphy & Vickers, our attorneys will assist a buyer or a seller of residential real estate to make sure their interests are protected.

The Texas Real Estate Commission has promulgated forms for most residential real estate sales and purchases. However, sometimes these forms are not in the best interests of all those involved in the transaction. Our attorneys work with our clients to revise the documents as needed to better fit the specific transaction. We also draft and review privately created contracts.

Our attorneys can assist buyers and sellers through all phases of the transaction, including:

  • review and revision of earnest money contracts

  • reviewing deed restrictions for residential property

  • clearing any liens on the property, such as tax liens and mechanics and materialmen’s liens (M&M liens)

  • explaining any ancillary forms you will have to sign if the property is in a controlled community or city

  • examining any easements that affect the property

  • assisting with the closing and reviewing the relevant closing documents

  • Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services such as mediation, arbitration, and negotiation of real estate disputes to avoid litigation

Please note that the firm does not provide legal representation for any matters pertaining to foreclosures for property owners.
